'Two Ears, One Mouth' came about from teaching a Grade Six class that wouldn't stop talking and also from reading Isaiah 50:4-9. It's a song challenging us to speak less and listen more, reflecting one why we have been created with two ears but only one mouth. This fast tempo rock style song will hopefully not just get listeners reflecting, but also bopping along!

Lyrics

We’ve been gifted two ears and one mouth
What on Earth is that all about?
Two ears, one mouth
Use them wisely when you’re out

The Lord God gave me a well-trained tongue
To grow and use since I’ve been young
And gifted to me two strong ears
To keep them open, so I can hear

Chorus:
Two ears, one mouth
What on Earth is that all about?
Two ears, one mouth
Use them wisely when you’re out

So with these gifts granted to me
Help me to train them so truly
May they be blessed, may they be crowned
To show Your kingdom, spread it round

Chorus:

When I was young, I learned this trick
From my grandma, really quick
It’s pretty simple, like catching a ball
If you wouldn’t say it to grandma, don’t say it at all

Chorus:

So signing off before this ends
These make and break both you and friends
It might seem painful or a chore
But speak less, listen more

Chorus x 2
