An Easter themed ballad reflecting on what happened when the Marys went to Jesus' tomb.

Lyrics

V1
The message spread out through the lands,
‘bout this Son of God who was the man
He did so much good, healed the lame and
sick,
freed the oppressed, so the news spread quick
But for some reason, amazing to me, He
was sent to death on that tree

From the empty tomb, to the upper room
Jesus He changed our whole world

V2
Early Sunday, before light crept out
Mary Magdalene, up and about
She went to the tomb where her saviour lay
And saw stone removed from the place He
was laid

Chorus

V3
She ran to Peter, and others too
And told them “they’ve taken Him out of the
tomb”
So they all ran back, to check and see
“They’ve taken my Jesus, Where could He be?”

Chorus

V4
There’s linen unwrapped, all lying there
Both were perplexed, both unaware
Of all the times that scripture said
Our saviour must rise back from the dead

Chorus

V5
Mary stood there, weeping still
And peered at the tomb, mourning until
She saw two angels, shining bright
And listened to them, in amazing fright
“Woman, why are you weeping here?”
Your Lord has risen, there’s no need to fear

Chorus

---
V6
She turned back now and there she saw,
a lone gardener, she thought no more
“Mary” He called.
She said “Rabbouni”
And over she ran, so quickly to see

Chorus

V7
Jesus said, “Don’t hold on to me,
I have not yet ascended, with the Father to be.
But go to my brothers and say to them,
'I am ascending real soon, so be ready then

Chorus

V8
I’ll be with my Father and your Father too,
To be with my God, and your God it’s true
While I’m up in heaven, please spread my word
To all of the people all over the world
